Biarritz and the Basque coast run on Atlantic weather and southern hours. Dinner starts late, the evening goes later, and the ocean sends wind and salt across the terrace of every belle epoque villa on the cliff. Guests cross the border from San Sebastian, others fly into a small airport, and half the party spent the afternoon in the water. Nourith plans for that: a programme built for a late start, and an outdoor set-up built for wind off the sea.
Questions
With placement and protection. Atlantic wind takes the high frequencies straight off a terrace, so the speakers sit low and close to the guests and the microphone is shielded. Salt air is hard on instruments and cabling, so equipment stays covered until the sound check.
Noticeably, yes. Influenced by the rhythm across the Spanish border, dinner often begins at nine or later and the dancing runs into the early hours. The programme is planned around the late start so the live sets land at full room rather than at a half empty terrace.
Partly, and honestly stated. Nourith sings in English, French, Hebrew and Arabic. Spanish repertoire comes from other singers in her ensemble rather than from her, so it is available in the larger configurations and is agreed in advance rather than promised loosely.
By train or road from Paris with the team, staying the night before and the night after. There is no international flight and no freight to clear, so the travel line in your budget is a train and a hotel rather than four figures of transport for a group arriving from abroad.
